The Fourth VistA Technical Meeting will be held at RMU from December 4th through December 6th at:

Robert Morris University
Sewall Conference Center
6001 University Boulevard
Moon Township, PA 15108-1189

This will be an open meeting for anyone who wishes to attend, with no charge for attendees. This meeting supports technical programming having to do with "Meaningful Use" Activities: Evaluation and construction of code and procedures necessary for acceptance of VistA (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) in educational and medical settings under criteria developed by HHS/ONC (Health and Human Services, Office of the National Coordinator for HIT) for health information technology. RMU students will have opportunities to be involved open source healthcare software development and in development of real-world applications of health information technology (HIT). Development activities will focus on (1) configuration of clinical reminders to meet uality criteria with regard to reporting measures as well as on (2) graphical user interface (GUI) programming for VistA. (3) Semantic web query capabilities will be enhanced as well as the user interface. This process will help VistA be accepted under meaningful use criteria.

While no education classes will be provided as this will be primarily a technical work meeting, it may be of value for newbies and those who would be interested in being involved in a working meeting, and learning how to participate in the WorldVistA Community. Experts in many skills are welcome, such as those able to develop/design/program in VistA/FileMan/MUMPS as well as being at least familiar with other skills such as Java/Eclipse, Delphi, .NET, Javascript and EWD and XML. We will assume that you have already installed VistA on your laptops or other machines. Some people available may be willing to be involved in helping someone set up a system from scratch, however the primary intent is to work beyond the initial issues and deal with those needed for meeting the meaningful use criteria. Some of this will involve work on the E-pharmacy, CCR/CCD, and GUI interfaces for VistA, as in previous meetings.  The intent is that an in-person meeting (which some call a "sprint") will be effective in advancing the areas of VistA which are most lacking, but which can be addressed in a short term effort.
