See transportation from the airport below for information for getting to the hotel from the airport. From the hotel to Regenstrief, there is a shuttlebus that leaves on the hour that will take you to Regenstrief for $5. Taxi is an estimated $5 for the trip. Parking is free of charge at the hotel. There is public parking near Regenstrief but we don't yet know the cost of that parking. |
This hotel is a converted apartment complex with large rooms with kitchenettes and a separate bedroom with a king sized bed. It is located 0.7 miles from Regenstrief and there are sidewalks for walking to Regenstrief. Book by calling the hotel directly at 1-317-536-7700 or using the link below. The rate is $101 plus tax. If you stay for the GT.M training, there appears to be a discount on that rate for an extended stay. There is a fold out bed in the sitting area of each of the rooms. There is complementary WiFi. There are photos of the rooms at the registration link. Here is the link to register, or you can call for a reservation. https://www.ihg.com/redirect?path=asearch&brandCode=6c&localeCode=en®ionCode=1&hotelCode=INDWP&checkInDate=17&checkInMonthYear=022017&checkOutDate=23&checkOutMonthYear=022017&rateCode=6CBARC&_PMID=99801505&GPC=WVB&viewfullsite=true There are a limited number of two bedroom suites available for the standard rate. Check online to see if you can beat the rate before booking directly. I found the hotel staff had rules they had to follow when they give you rates and they may be lower online. |
Regenstrief: We will be meeting at their new building at 1101 West Tenth Street, Indianapolis IN 46202.
Travel from the Airport to Regentstrief and the Candlewood Suites Hotel and the downtown hotels:
Bus Service from the Airport to downtown hotels: From the baggage claim on lower level of terminal, walk outdoors to the Ground Transportation Center. From the upper level of the terminal, pass check-in counters and access Ground Transportation via the enclosed walkway. Route 8 travels along Washington Street from the Airport to downtown, an approximately 45 minute travel time. Once downtown, Route 8 traverses Ohio Street for easy transfers with any other downtown route in the system and is within a 15 minute walk of most downtown hotels. The fare is $1.75 and $.85 for those 65 and older. There is a map on this web site showing where each downtown hotel is relative to the bus lines. http://www.indygo.net/how-to-ride/airport-service/ If you take this bus, you will probably want to take a taxi from the bus stop to the Candlewood hotel for a charge of about $8.
Taxi: Yellow/Checker Cab Co. - Approximate cost is $35 each way for airport transportation to Downtown hotels. Candlewood Suites is not directly in the downtown area so the charge may vary from $35.
Hotel Shuttle: Book online in advance for an airport shuttle service to the some of the hotels for $10 in the downtown area. https://goexpresstravel.com/indy_express You can take the bus to one of these hotels and the taxi service to the Candlewood Suites from there should be about $8. Candlewood Suites
Driving: Candlewood Suites does not charge for parking. It appears that parking at the downtown hotels is usually $14 a day.Travel from the hotels to Regenstrief:
From Candlewood Suites. There is a shuttlebus that holds about 10 people that leaves on the hour that will take you to Regenstrief for $5. Taxi is an estimated $5 for the trip. Parking is free of charge at the hotel. There is public parking near Regenstrief but we don't yet know the cost of that parking.
From downtown hotels - There are several taxi services that have agreed to a $5 fare anywhere downtown. A map of that area appears to include Regenstrief. There is a pdf with a list of taxi companies that honor that fare as well and a map of the area included. I called one taxi company that estimated the fare from Candlewood Suites would be an additional $8 in this same area. Here is the link. http://www.circlecityclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/taxi-service-dt-program.pdf The #10 bus from the area of the downtown hotels goes to Regenstrief. It runs every 20 minutes and the fare is $1.75. The schedule and map of the route can be found here. http://www.indygo.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/10W.pdf
#10 bus: The number 10 bus from IndyGo goes to Regenstrief and is accessible by a short walk from most downtown hotels. The fare is $1.75. It runs every 20 minutes. The link for the bus route map and timetable is http://www.indygo.net/route/10-10th-street/
Walking: It is about 1.25 mile from the downtown hotels to the new Regenstrief building walking.
Guest Parking at Regenstrief: May not be available but there is public parking available across the street by the hospitals. We don't know the charge for that parking at this time.
About the VistA Community Meeting
The goal of VistA Community Meetings is for those involved in the VistA Community to network & collaborate, i.e., to share ideas and work, with the objective of moving VistA & the VistA community forward.
Compared to most meetings, VistA Community Meetings are relatively unstructured. The agenda is always a "living" agenda, because attendees are free to change it – even during the meeting – in order to better meet their objectives. VistA Community Meetings were originally almost exclusively technical meetings. Over time, the balance shifted, so that although there are technical presentations, there are more discussions on other aspects, including implementation, support, demonstration, education, training, and community collaboration.
